The saga continues. As Washington faces the very real prospect of the Supreme Court striking down all or part of Health Care Reform, Republicans are deciding there are many parts of the bill they want to keep after all.

In many ways, this could be the sleeper story of the 2012 cycle. The change of heart has very acute electoral roots. People around the country already have adult children staying on their health care insurance or are relying on the ban of denial of coverage for preexisting conditions. Both could be taken away by the Supreme Court within weeks. Once that happens, politicians will be running for cover and scrambling for explanations to give constituents. That’s what this rethink is about.
