TPM is a few months shy of 12 years online. It's evolved from a tiny one man blog to a big one man blog to a small news organization to ... well, an organization with offices in two cities with a staff of almost 30 people. A lot's changed.
Millions of people now come to the site every month. But the way we service that 'mass' audience isn't the same at all as what we want to provide for that much smaller subset of really dedicated readers. The folks who come multiple times a day, every day, and have in some cases for years. Both audiences are critical to our editorial mission and our financial health. But it's easy to get focused on the former at the expense of the latter.
I probably read our reader emails as close or closer than any member of the staff, even today. But I want to redouble our efforts to create the best site and community we can for you, the core readers of the site, the folks who think there's something unique and special about TPM.
If you're in that group: what could we do better? What would you like more of?
