A month ago, GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain lost his temper with TPM’s Evan McMorris-Santoro during a press availability in Minneapolis.
Evan was pressing Cain on previous statements he’d made about subjecting potential Muslim appointees in his administration to “extra precautions” to make sure they weren’t terrorists.
What special precautions? Evan asked.
An irritated Cain was having none of it. He denied ever saying he’d subject Muslim appointees to extra scrutiny and insisted to reporters that his previous anti-Muslim statements had been overblown by the press.
“I am not anti-Muslim,” Cain declared. “I am anti-terrorist.”
Since then Cain has reversed course again, alternating between demonizing Muslim Americans and denying he’s demonizing Muslim Americans. But yesterday on Fox News Sunday Cain went all in, calmly explaining that Americans have every right to ban mosques from their communities. Watch.
How dare we or anyone else press him on this.
