A couple days ago I mentioned that the seeming unstoppability of Hillary Clinton’s pursuit of the Democratic presidential nomination has created an odd dynamic in which the contests and questions usually hashed out in a campaign between rival candidates are now being played out within and around her candidacy.
Here’s another small example.
Tonight I received a blast email from a progressive PR firm which I assume is working on behalf of one of the organizations coordinating the big fast food wages mobilization. The centerpiece was a tweet Hillary sent out tonight giving the effort her seeming endorsement.
Every American deserves a fair shot at success. Fast food & child care workers shouldn’t have to march in streets for living wages. -H

Short and sweet and to the point. The email painted Hillary as part of a gathering tide of support behind the effort. The effort is to both seem to gain strength from her endorsement and also loop her into its orbit. Admittedly this is a small little nugget. But it is a revealing one. This is more how you would treat an incumbent president than a candidate for the nomination at the very start of her run. But this is the reality of this campaign.
