So get this. I turned 50 today.
I had something longer and more considered written. But I thought better of it. Instead, thanks for being readers. Thanks for being members. Thank you for your dedication to this site and the twenty or so who run it. And yes, it’s a great day to sign up for Prime if you haven’t done so already. Believe me!, as our President would say. A short while after I moved to Washington DC twenty years ago, I saw James Fallows announce that he had just turned 50 and he was officially a “geezer”, as he put it. I think that was a blog post or an article or possibly it was in person. I’m not sure. But I have a pretty good memory. So I’m confident the core recollection is accurate. That always struck me as a bit premature. For myself, I feel young, mentally and physically, like the more interesting things I will do are in my future rather than my past. “He not busy being born is busy dying.” To that end, my own hope is to get our subscription transition to the point where I can hand off more of the business and managerial aspects of this operation to my able colleagues and focus more on writing and other projects. “Steal a little and they throw you in jail. Steal a lot and they make you king.”
