The recall efforts in Wisconsin are gathering steam — and as WisPolitics reports, one of the targeted Republicans, state Sen. Dan Kapanke, now says he expects organizers to gather enough signatures to trigger a recall election against him.

However, Kapanke says he is not backing down from his support of Gov. Scott Walker’s anti-union budget proposals:

Still, he said he was undeterred by the effort and remained committed to the guv’s budget repair bill.

“I’m willing to stand up and take that vote,” Kapanke said.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel notes its rankings of the state Senate districts that Kapanke represents the bluest district in Wisconsin of any Republican state senator: Obama carried it by over 23 points in 2008, and in the 2010 Republican wave Scott Walker won it by a margin of less than one point.

As Greg Sargent reported Tuesday, the state Democrats are bullish on their signature-gathering efforts so far against Republican state Senators. Party spokesman Graeme Zielinski told Greg that Dems have already reached 15% of the signature thresholds in all eight targeted GOPers, and have even reached 26% in one unspecified district.
