Biden On Midterms: ‘I Think We’re Going To Shock The Heck Out Of Everybody’
Appearing on This Week, Vice President Biden predicted a strong showing for the Democrats in this November’s elections: “I don’t think the losses are going to be bad at all. I think we’re going to shock the heck out of everybody. I really — and I’ve been saying this now. I think even when you and I went down to North Carolina and you followed be on the recovery trip, I was saying it then. I am absolutely confidence — confident when people take a look at the what has happened since we’ve taken office in November and comparing it to the alternative, we’re going to be very — we’re going to be in great shape. Here’s the deal. What Robert Gibbs also said was what he believes, what I believe, what the president believes, we’re going to win the House and we’re going to win the Senate. We’re not going to lose either one of those bodies.”

Biden On McChrystal Flap: ‘I Didn’t Take It Personally At All’
Also during his appearance on This Week, Vice President Biden responded to the disparaging remarks made about him by Gen. Stanley McChrystal, who resigned after they were publicized. “I didn’t take it personally at all. I really, honest to God, didn’t, compared to what happens in politics, this is — that was a piece of cake,” said Biden. “And it wasn’t so disparaging is that I — I was the enemy. It wasn’t that I — I wasn’t the clown. I was the guy who, in fact, was their problem, they thought. I’m not their problem. I agree with the policy the president put in place. But it was clear — I was asked to and I did on my own survey, I think, six four star generals, including present and former, every single one said he had to go.”

Sessions: GOP Will Gain ‘Slightly Over 40’ Seats For House Majority
Appearing on Meet The Press, National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Pete Sessions (R-TX) predicted that the Republicans would gain just enough seats to win a majority in the House of Representatives: “I think we’re going to be slightly over 40.” Republicans currently need to gain a net 39 seats to win the majority.

Cornyn And Sessions Defend Bush Years
Also on Meet The Press, NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions (R-TX) and National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman John Cornyn defended the GOP’s reputation from Democratic attacks about the Bush years. “People had jobs when Republicans were, not only in charge, but George Bush was there. We doubled the size of the economy over 12 years. We did things that would empower the free enterprise system,” said Sessions And Cornyn said: “My point is that, you know, unemployment was roughly 6.9 percent when President Obama was elected. Now it’s 9.5 percent. The deficit was 3.2 percent the last year President Bush was in office. Now it’s 10 percent. The debt was $2.3 trillion lower when–in 2008 than it is now because of runaway spending and debt.”

McConnell On Racism Accusations Against Tea Party: ‘I Have Got Better Things To Do’
Appearing on State of the Union, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell avoided commenting on the NAACP’s accusations of racism in the Tea Party movement. “Oh my goodness, in the whole country, is there racism?…I’m not interested in getting into that debate. What we’re interested in is trying to have an election this fall that will respond to what the American people are asking us to do which is to have some checks and balances here,” said McConnell. He added: “Look, there are all kinds of things going on in America that make me uncomfortable, both on the right and on the left. I have got better things to do than to wade in to all of these disputes and discussions that are going on out in the country.”

Tea Party Leader: NAACP Is ‘Simply Playing The Race Card’
Appearing on Face The Nation, Tea Party 365 co-founder David Webb responded to the NAACP’s accusations of racism in the Tea Party movement. “What I have a serious objection with is his selective condemnation of racism, when he will not condemn the New Black Panther Party for saying that they want to kill crackers and kill cracker babies, whereas he would condemn the KKK or any element that shows up . . . and claims that they are a part of the Tea Party,” said Webb, who is himself an African-American. Webb also added that the NAACP is “simply playing the race card.”

NAACP Head To Tea Partier: ‘These Folks Are In Your Groups’
Also appearing on Face The Nation, NAACP President Benjamin Jealous responded to Tea Partier David Webb: “You know, bigots come in all colors. We absolutely denounce the New Black Panther Party. But they aren’t in our group. These folks are in your groups.”

Vitter: Obama Trying To Oil Spill ‘Off The Front Page’
Appearing on Fox News Sunday, Sen. DAvid Vitter (R-LA) said that President Obama was not dealing forcefully with the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. “I’m afraid he’s decided to deal with this issue, at least politically, by not coming back here and trying to move it off the front page rather than dealing with the situation forcefully,” Vitter said. “He was coming here on a pretty regular basis. … He hasn’t done that in Louisiana since June 4. That’s personally disappointing to me.”
