Daley: People Talk About No-Fly Zone As If It Were A ‘Video Game’
Appearing on Meet The Press, White House Chief of Staff Bill Daley criticized those who call for a no-fly zone in Libya: “Well, you know, lots of people throw around phrases of ‘no-fly zone,’ and they talk about it as though it’s just a game on a video game or something, and some people who throw, throw that line out have no idea what they’re talking about,” said Daley. “Bob Gates understands the difficulty of going to war. This is a man who spent his–almost his entire life working for the government. He, he knows the difficulty of war and the challenges, as does Admiral Mullen. So when, when people comment on military action, most of them have no idea what they’re talking about.”
McCain: Qaddafi ‘Insane,’ A No-Fly Zone Can Send Message To People Around Him
Appearing on This Week, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) reiterated his support for a no-fly zone as part of an effort to oust Muammar Qaddafi. He’s insane. But perhaps the people around him would begin to depart the sinking ship,” said McCain. He also added: “Again, by a no-fly zone, by declaring our support for a provisional government, perhaps, which is being formed up now – there is a lot of steps we can take.”
McConnell: Obama Not Serious About the Budget
Appearing on Face The Nation, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell was asked whether he thought the Obama administration was serious with regard to issues of the budget. “No, I don’t. I have now had a number of private conversations with the president and the vice president. I was hopeful that we would step up to the plate here, if you will, and use this divided government opportunity to do something big about our long- term problem,” said McConnell. “I don’t have any more complaints about the conversations with them; I’ve had plenty of conversations with them. What I don’t see now is any willingness to do anything that’s difficult.”
Bachmann: Obama Administration’s Actions ‘Not Based On True American Values’
Appearing on on Meet The Press, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) was asked whether she still believed her previous statements that President Obama has “anti-American” views. Bachmann responded: “I believe that the actions of this government have, have been emblematic of ones that have not been based on true American values. Just consider Obamacare. Over 900 waivers have been given out to unions and protected special interests that are linked to the president. That’s not right.”
Ellison: ‘I Challenge The Basic Premise’ Of Peter King’s Muslim Hearings
Appearing on State of the Union, Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), who in 2006 became the first Muslim elected to Congress, challenged the upcoming hearings by Rep. Peter King (R-NY) to investigate radicalization in the Muslim community. “I challenge the basic premise of the hearings,” Ellison said. “We should deal with radicalization and violent radicalization, but that singling out one community is the wrong thing to do.”

Also on State of the Union, Rep. Peter King (R-NY) defended his upcoming hearings into the Muslim community, comparing it to investigations of the Mafia within the Italian community or the Russian mob in the Russian community. “We’re talking about al Qaeda,” King said. “There’s been self radicalization going on within the Muslim community, within a very small minority, but it’s there and that’s where the threat is coming from at this time.”
Lamar Alexander: Trump ‘Has Absolutely No Chance Of Winning’
Appearing on State of the Union, Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) talked down the idea of Donald Trump running for president — echoing Trump’s own words against Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX). “There’s always someone like Donald Trump who has absolutely no chance of winning,” said Alexander, when asked for his opinions on the various contenders in the GOP field. “He’s famous for being famous.”
Westboro Church Member/Attorney: U.S. Military Worse Than Al-Qaeda
Margie Phelps, a member of the Westboro Baptist Church sect and an attorney who just won the group’s free-speech case at the Supreme Court — which involved the church’s protests at military funerals — appeared on Fox News Sunday to say that the U.S. military is worse than al-Qaeda. “The American soldier is worse, because he pretends that he’s fighting for liberty and a Christian nation. And there is not a bigger lie on the face of this earth today,” said Phelps. “Those soldiers are fighting for same-sex marriage and all the lesser included sins. And there is not an ounce of nobility in the United States military in this day. If you fear God, you won’t put that uniform on.”
