Report: White House Considering Military Trials For 9/11 Suspects
The Obama administration is reportedly close to making a recommendation that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and his alleged co-conspirators be tried in a military commission, rather than in civilian courts as originally planned. The Associated Press repots: “The review of where and how to hold a Sept. 11 trial is not over, so no recommendation is yet before the president and Obama has not made a determination of his own, officials said. The review is not likely to be finished this week.”

Obama’s Day Ahead
President Obama and Vice President Biden will receive the presidential daily briefing at 9:30 a.m. ET, will meet with senior advisers at 10 a.m. ET, and will receive the economic daily briefing at 10:30 a.m. ET. Obama will deliver remarks at 11:25 a.m. ET, on clean energy jobs. Obama and Biden will have lunch at 12:30 p.m. ET.

Biden’s Day Ahead
Vice President Biden will attend President Obama’s morning briefings, listed above. Biden will meet at 11:45 a.m. ET with Earl Devaney, chairman of the Recovery Act Transparency and Accountability Board. Biden will have lunch with Obama at 12:30 p.m. ET. Later, he will meet with senior advisers at the White House.

Scott Brown Campaigning With McCain In Arizona
Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA) will be campaigning today in Phoenix, Arizona, alongside Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), who is facing a challenge from the right in the Republican primary. “John McCain is a personal friend, an American hero, and someone who stood by him when no one else thought he had a chance,” said Gail Gitcho, Brown’s communications director.

Reid Predicts Passage Of Jobs Bill Early Next Week
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid predicted yesterday that the Senate could pass the jobs bill early next week. “There will be no more votes today (Thursday) or tomorrow (Friday),” said Reid. “We’re in the process of working on this bill. We don’t have it all worked out, but we think we can work it out, so we will finish it with a couple of votes Tuesday morning.”

Lieberman: ANWR Drilling ‘A Deal-Breaker’ For Energy Bill
Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT), who is working on an energy and climate change bill with Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), says that drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge “would be a deal breaker.” A longtime opponent of the proposed drilling, Lieberman said: “We are looking at a lot of things, we are bending to bring people in, but that one is a no-no.”

Gingrich To Visit Iowa In May
Former Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-GA) has scheduled a trip to Iowa, for May 26th in the Des Moines area — the kind of event that would increase speculation that Gingrich might run for president. “Newt certainly hasn’t ruled out a run and Iowa is an important political state for 2010,” Gingrich spokesman Rick Tyler told CNN. “I know he has his mind focused on 2010, and he will be doing what he can to help the party.”
