Obama Meeting With McChrystal
President Obama is meeting with Gen. Stanley McChrystal, following the publication in Rolling Stone of derisive remarks that McChrystal and his top aides had made about the Obama administration. The Associated Press reports: “Two military officials said McChrystal was prepared to submit his resignation. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly. Obama was set to make an announcement on McChrystal’s future soon after their face-to-face.”

Obama’s Day Ahead
President Obama will meet with his national security team on Afghanistan and Pakistan at 11:35 a.m. ET. He will have lunch at 1:10 p.m. ET with a group of Senators. At 2:50 p.m. ET, the President and First Lady will attend a President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Nutrition Event. Obama and Vice President Biden will meet at 4:30 p.m. ET with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Obama will meet at 5 p.m. ET with senior advisers.

Biden’s Day Ahead
Vice President Biden will attend President Obama’s meeting at 11:35 a.m. ET with the national security team on Afghanistan and Pakistan. At 3 p.m. ET, Biden will deliver remarks at an event with the Parade All-America High School Service Team. Biden will meet at 4:30 p.m. ET with Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. At 5:30 p.m. ET, Biden will meet with winners of the Jefferson Awards for Public Service.

Obama Asks For List Of Potential McChrystal Replacements
CNN reports: “The White House has asked the Pentagon to make list of possible replacements for Gen. Stanley McChrystal because President Barack Obama wants to be ready if he decides to fire the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, a senior administration official told CNN Wednesday.”

Kagan Practices Answers, Poise In Mock Hearings
The Associated Press reports: “For several grueling hours each day, Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan sits at a witness table, facing a phalanx of questioners grilling her about constitutional law, her views of legal issues and what qualifies her to be a justice. They are not polite. It’s all a rehearsal for Kagan’s big performance next week during her confirmation hearings at the Senate Judiciary Committee. The ‘murder boards’ are elaborately planned sessions where Kagan hashes out answers to every conceivable question and practices staying calm and poised during hours of pressure and hot television lights.”

Arizona Dems Urge Obama Not To Challenge Immigration Law
The Hill reports: “Arizona Democrats facing tough reelection races are distancing themselves from the Obama administration as it prepares to file a lawsuit against the state over its controversial immigration law. Rep. Harry Mitchell (D-Ariz.) on Monday sent a sharply worded letter to President Barack Obama urging him not to sue.”

Jeb Bush: Obama Blaming George ‘Is What Children Do…They Don’t Accept Responsibility’
In a new profile in the New York Times, former Gov. Jeb Bush (R-FL) attacked President Obama for blaming Bush’s brother, former President George W. Bush, for the country’s problems. “It’s kind of like a kid coming to school saying, ‘The dog ate my homework,'” said Jeb. “It’s childish. This is what children do until they mature. They don’t accept responsibility.”
