Obama Reshapes Administration For A Fresh Strategy
The Los Angeles Times reports: “As President Obama remakes his senior staff, he is also shaping a new approach for the second half of his term: to advance his agenda through executive actions he can take on his own, rather than pushing plans through an increasingly hostile Congress. A flurry of staff departures and promotions is playing out as the White House ends a nearly two-year period of intense legislative activity. Where the original staff was built to give Obama maximum clout in Congress, the new White House team won’t need the same leverage with lawmakers.”

President Obama will receive the presidential daily briefing at 10:15 a.m. ET, and meet at 10:45 a.m. ET with senior advisers. He will meet at 1:30 p.m. ET with Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner. He will depart from the White House at 2:30 p.m. ET, and deliver remarks at a 3:15 p.m. ET rally for Gov. Martin O’Malley (D-MD) in Bowie, Maryland. He will depart from Bowie at 4:15 p.m. ET, and depart from Andrews Air Force Base at 4:35 p.m. ET, arriving at 6:15 p.m. ET in Chicago, Illinois. He will deliver remarks at a 7 p.m. ET reception for Senatorial candidate Alexi Giannoulias, and attend a dinner for Giannoulias at 7:40 p.m. ET. Hillary Clinton’s World Eyes 2016, Not Vice President
Politico reports: “The new round of speculation that Hillary Clinton could replace Joe Biden as President Barack Obama’s running mate in 2012 misses the point. Clinton doesn’t want to be vice president. But, her old advisers say, she may still want to be president…’Not happening,’ said one of her 2008 campaign’s topmost figures. ‘Stay tuned for 2016.'”

Election Already Underway In 10 States
CNN reports: “Early voting gets underway in Arizona Thursday. The state becomes the tenth in the nation where early or state-wide absentee voting is underway in the November 2 midterm elections. Vermont kicked it off back on Sept. 20, followed by South Dakota on Sept. 21, Iowa and Wyoming on Sept. 23, Nebraska on Sept. 27, Ohio on September 28, Wisconsin on October 3, and California and Indiana on Oct. 4. Early voting gets underway in another 17 states and the District of Columbia over the next two weeks.”

Big Senate Gains In 2010 Could Put Cornyn In The 2012 White House Mix
The Hill reports: “Expectations that Republicans will make big gains in the Senate this cycle have sparked presidential buzz for GOP campaign chief John Cornyn. Republican insiders who are dissatisfied with the current crop of likely White House hopefuls have floated Sen. Cornyn’s (R-Texas) name as a promising challenger.”
