Jindal: Do I Want Obama To Fail? It Depends
At an NRCC dinner last night in Washington, Bobby Jindal blasted Democrats for demanding that Republicans not want President Obama to fail. “Make no mistake: Anything other than an immediate and compliant, ‘Why no sir, I don’t want the president to fail,’ is treated as some sort of act of treason, civil disobedience or political obstructionism,” said Jindal, going on to explain the bottom line: “My answer to the question is very simple: ‘Do you want the president to fail?’ It depends on what he is trying to do.”

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee will be holding a hearing at 9:30 a.m. ET, on the nomination of Christopher Hill to be U.S. Ambassador to Iraq. Pelosi: Threat Of Bonus Tax Already Working
Nancy Pelosi told reporters yesterday that the threat from Congress to pass the bonus tax is already working, in that some AIG bonuses are being returned voluntarily. Pelosi said the House’s proposal of a 90% tax “will have accomplished what we set out to do, which is to get the taxpayers’ money back. And to do it right away.”

Poll: Hillary Getting High Approval
A new CNN poll finds that Hillary Clinton has an approval rating of 71% in her performance as Secretary of State. This number is ten points higher than where Condoleezza Rice was in March 2005, the equivalent point in her own time as Secretary of State — and even includes a 50% approval among self-identified Republicans.

Report: Cantor Hits Bump With House GOP
The Hill reports that House Minority Whip Eric Cantor has run into a rough patch among the House GOP, thanks to his vote for the bonus tax that other top Republicans opposed. Said one anonymous legislator: “When your whip votes against you, it’s kind of tough to whip for it.”
