Obama: GOP Drove The Car Into The Ditch And Want The Keys Back
Speaking at a Democratic fundraiser in New York Thursday night, President Obama attacked the Republicans on the economy. “They’ve done their best to gum up the works, to make things look broken to say no to every single thing,” said Obama, also adding: “Their basic attitude has been if Democrats lose, we win. So after they drove their car into the ditch, made it as difficult as possible for us to pull it back, now they want the keys back. No! They can’t drive!”

Hillary Clinton To Meet With New British Foreign Secretary To Discuss Afghanistan
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will meet today with the new British Foreign Secretary William Hague, who will set out to reassure Clinton that Britain’s new coalition government is committed to the war in Afghanistan. “We will take stock together, but we are not looking here at setting artificial deadlines, arbitrary deadlines, a date of withdrawal,” Hague told the BBC on Wednesday, also adding: “Of course, we want to speed that up in any way that we can, that is why Britain is doing so much to help train the Afghan security forces themselves.”

Small Business Lobby Joins Lawsuit Against Health Care Law
The National Federation of Independent Business is joining the lawsuit by some states against the new federal health care reform law. NFIB president Dan Danner said the law allows government “to regulate you just because you exist.” Danner added: “If you can regulate this, where do you stop? Do you tell people, ‘We are going to mandate that everybody exercise?’ We think this is an overreach by the government. It goes too far, and threatens individual freedom.”

Dems Feel Health Care Fatigue
The Hill reports that there is little appetite among Congressional Democrats to pass any additional legislation regarding health care. “The health care bill is done,” said Rep. Earl Pomeroy (D-ND). “The action on health care is now in the executive branch as they implement the bill. It’s critically important that they implement it in a sound way, and I believe the attention of Congress is best spent on overseeing the sound implementation of this bill.”

Senate GOP Launching New Campaign Against Health Care Law
Roll Call reports that Senate Republicans are set to roll out a new political offensive against the health care reform law: “Under the slogan ‘second opinion,’ Republicans plan to communicate their message on multiple fronts, including on the Senate floor, in press conferences, via the Internet and through television and radio appearances.”
