No Crashers At The State Dinner
The Washington Post reports on some good news from last night’s state dinner — there were no crashers: “This time, it looked as if everything went perfectly. The name of every guest arriving for Wednesday night’s state dinner appeared on the official list. The inevitable comparisons to the drama of last year’s faded away. And the party talk was focused on politics, the majesty of the White House and how so many memories were being made on such a night. Which is how it should be.”

Hillary Clinton Touring Asia To Discuss Security Issues
The Associated Press reports: “Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is embarking on a three-nation tour of Asia whose centerpiece – a new round of U.S.-China strategic and economic talks – is likely to be overshadowed by a crisis with North Korea, possible new sanctions on Iran and the debate over U.S. military bases in Japan.”

Mexico’s Calderón Takes His Case To Capitol Hill
The Associated Press notes the political stakes of today’s address to Congress by Mexican President Felipe Calderón: “Calderon’s state visit comes at a time of renewed furor over the flawed immigration system from Mexico into the United States. From border security troubles to questions about how to deal with the millions of illegal migrants living in the U.S., the immigration debate remains politically vexing, frustrating and volatile.”

Senate Dem Colleagues Vow Support For Blanche Lincoln
Roll Call reports that Senate Democrats are committing to support Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) in her primary runoff against her more liberal challenger Bill Halter. “People today were very committed to doing everything we can to not only help her win her runoff, but to win in November,” said Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH).

Pelosi: ‘One Thing I Know For Sure’ Is That Dems Will Keep House
Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) confidently told The Hill that Democrats will keep control of the House of Representatives, citing as evidence the party’s victory in Tuesday’s special election for the swing seat formerly held by the late Rep. John Murtha (D-PA), and her efforts to protect vulnerable Dem incumbents. “One thing I know for sure is that Democrats will retain their majority in the House of Representatives,” said Pelosi.
