Obama Prepared To Dust Off Veto Pen Should GOP Take The House
The Hill reports: “President Obama is ready to flex some muscle by using the veto pen if Republicans win back a majority in the House. Democrats and White House aides said that Obama is prepared to wield his veto pen and effectively stare down Republicans should they have a successful Election Day. ‘The president doesn’t shrink from a fight,’ one White House official said.'”

Obama’s Day Ahead
President Obama will receive the presidential daily briefing at 9:45 a.m. ET, and meet with senior advisers at 11 a.m. ET. He does not have any scheduled public events today.

Biden’s Day Ahead
Vice PResident Biden will travel in the morning to Burlington, Vermont. At 12:30 p.m. ET, he will deliver remarks at a rally for gubernatorial candidate Peter Shumlin. Afterwards, he will travel to Wilmington, Delaware, and deliver remarks at a 5:45 p.m. ET rally for Delaware Democratic candidates.

Next For GOP Leaders: Stopping Sarah Palin
Politico reports: “Top Republicans in Washington and in the national GOP establishment say the 2010 campaign highlighted an urgent task that they will begin in earnest as soon as the elections are over: Stop Sarah Palin. Interviews with advisers to the main 2012 presidential contenders and with other veteran Republican operatives make clear they see themselves on a common, if uncoordinated, mission of halting the momentum and credibility Palin gained with conservative activists by plunging so aggressively into this year’s midterm campaigns.”

Dems Hope To Limit Losses In Campaign’s Last Hours
The Associated Press reports: “Desperate to minimize game-changing losses around the country, Democrats put their biggest weapons on the road Sunday. Obama and Vice President Joe Biden rallied about 8,000 supporters in Cleveland, urging them to keep Gov. Ted Strickland and a clutch of imperiled House Democrats from being ousted. Former president Bill Clinton, still a popular and energetic campaigner, stumped for Democrats Sunday in Maine, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.”

As Midwest Suffers, Democrats May Lose A Key Foothold
The Washington Post reports: “Midwestern Democrats could lose enough seats to flip the House and possibly the Senate to Republicans. Democrats are also at risk of losing the governorships of three major I-70 states – Illinois, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Because governors will have great influence in the coming battles over the redrawing of congressional districts based on the 2010 Census, a wave of new Republican governors could have a lasting effect on the way power flows in Washington, and on Obama’s chances of reelection in 2012.”

Conservative Donor Groups Lay A Base For 2012 Elections
The New York Times reports: “The midterm election campaign will end Tuesday, but one of its most marked developments — the emergence of outside groups, often backed by anonymous donations, that can direct waves of advertising into political battles — is just getting started. Buoyed by the impact their blistering, anti-Democratic campaigns have had this year, two of the largest new conservative groups helping Republicans are planning to keep pushing their agenda in the lame-duck session of Congress that will begin in two weeks and are already laying the groundwork for a more aggressive campaign in the 2012 presidential race.”
