During an interview on Sean Hannity’s TV show last night, Nevada Republican Senate nominee Sharron Angle declared twice that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid doesn’t care about the country — or his home state of Nevada, for that matter.

Hannity publicly dared Reid to come on the show and debate Angle live. And Angle chimed in: “We have to ask Harry why he doesn’t care about Nevada, why he doesn’t care about America.”

Angle repeated the point later, when rebutting Democratic charges that she is “wacky.” “I say sometimes that Harry Reid is the best man on my campaign because if we’re looking for a ‘wacky,’ certainly the things that come out of his mouth are a little wacky,” said Angle. “But beyond that he gave us the stimulus, the bailout, Obamacare, he thinks amnesty should be the priority, cap and trade. All of those things that I oppose, he agrees with. So, if I’m wacky, what is that? What is he doing?

“And really like I said, he doesn’t care about America. He doesn’t care about Nevada. He lives in that penthouse suite in Washington, D.C. And he’s completely out of touch with the rest of us.”

Late Update: When asked for comment, Reid campaign spokesman Kelly Steele gave us this statement: “Sharron Angle refuses to face Nevada voters regarding her extreme and dangerous agenda, and is hiding from all media except friendly right-wing outlets. While the policy contrasts in this race are stark, the fact that Angle would use these right-wing venues to attack Harry Reid’s patriotism is pathetic and repugnant. Just a week into the general election, it’s become perfectly clear that Angle and her right-wing media friends will do or say anything to distract from her dangerous plans to eliminate Social Security and Medicare, privatize the Veterans Administration, pull the US out of the UN, and eliminate all regulations on Wall Street and Big Oil.”
