The Senate has unanimously confirmed former FBI Deputy Director John S. Pistole to lead the Transportation Security Administration.
Pistole is the first permanent head of the TSA in the Obama administration.
It hasn’t been an easy post to fill. First, Errol Southers withdrew his nomination after his confirmation was blocked by Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC). Obama’s next nominee, Maj. Gen. Robert A. Harding, withdrew in March after questions were raised about his work as a defense contractor.
