The SEIU has released an attack ad criticizing Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) for voting against the health care reconciliation package.

The ad accuses Lincoln of voting “to allow health insurance companies to deny coverage to people with pre-existing conditions.”

“I guess Blanche Lincoln sided with the big insurance companies because they could afford big campaign contributions,” says the narrator, a woman whose daughter has special needs and medical problems.

Lincoln voted for the health care reform bill in December, but voted against a reconciliation package of fixes to the bill. The SEIU says it’s referring to a provision in that package that widens the prohibition against denying insurance to those with pre-existing conditions.

Lincoln is facing a primary battle from the left, with unions supporting her challenger, Bill Halter. But the majority of Louisiana voters are against health care reform — and Lincoln voted for it.
