Republican Joe Miller’s fight over the Alaska Senate write-in count just got a little help from an old friend. Sarah Palin’s SarahPAC donated $5,000 to Miller’s campaign yesterday, The Associated Press reports.

Miller beat Sen. Lisa Murkowski in the Republican primary, but now appears to trail her write-in campaign in the general election. Write-in ballots are currently being examined to see how many are for Murkowski.

According to the AP:

Miller spokesman Randy DeSoto says Palin’s political action committee made the donation to Miller’s U.S. Senate Defense Fund.

According to OpenSecrets.org, SarahPAC already contributed $10,000 to the Miller election campaign for the primary and general election.

Palin had backed Miller, a Tea Party favorite, since the beginning of his campaign, sometimes to a questionably helpful degree, like when she referred to his campaign as a lost cause right before the election: “Joe Miller – do not give up. It’s you against the machine. This is it. ‘Lost causes’ are the only ones worth fighting for.'”

Since the election, Palin had been noticably quiet about Miller’s campaign, only once retweeting the Miller campaign’s Twitter account about his lawsuit.

The NRSC, Mike Huckabee’s HuckPAC, and Jim DeMint’s Senate Conservatives Fund PAC have all been fundraising for Miller’s write-in battle as well.
