The latest Rasmussen poll of the Colorado Senate race shows Republicans Ken Buck and Jane Norton leading either of their likely potential Democratic opponents in the general — despite recent gaffes that have attracted unwelcome headlines for both GOPers.

Norton leads Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet 48%-39% and Democratic primary challenger Andrew Romanoff 44%-40%. Meanwhile, Buck leads both Romanoff and Bennet by a 44%-42% margin. For Norton, these numbers are little changed from the last Rasmussen poll, conducted on July 8, when Norton led Bennet 47%-40% and was in front of Romanoff 44%-42%. Buck has seen his lead over the Democrats shrink since July 8, when he led both 48%-42%.

Since then, Buck has had several foot-in-mouth comments captured by recording devices and Norton pushed for a NASA budget that doesn’t “cater to making Muslims feel good.”

Rasmussen found that independent voters “prefer the Republicans by double-digit margins.”

The primary is August 10.
