The new Quinnipiac poll of the Connecticut Senate race shows Democratic state Attorney General Richard Blumenthal pulling away from Republican former World Wrestling Entertainment CEO Linda McMahon.

The numbers: Blumenthal 54%, McMahon 43%. The survey of likely voters has a ±2.9% margin of error. In the previous Quinnipiac poll from three weeks ago, Blumenthal had a much narrower lead of only 49%-46%.

From the pollster’s analysis: “After Linda McMahon had climbed to within 3 points of Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, he has stopped her momentum and increased his lead by 8 points in two weeks. While September wasn’t very good for Blumenthal, perhaps like Reggie Jackson, he could be called ‘Mr. October.'”

The TPM Poll Average gives Blumenthal a lead of 51.6%-43.3%.
