A number of new polls in Colorado show Republican Ken Buck ahead in the Senate race, and Democrat John Hickenlooper maintaining his big lead in the three-way gubernatorial contest.

On the Senate side, a Marist poll conducted from Sept. 26-28 found Buck leading Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet 50%-42%. A SurveyUSA poll conducted from Sept. 28-30 found Buck leading 48%-43%. These are the first polls from Marist and SurveyUSA since the August 10 primary.

Buck and Bennet have been going after each other, and the ads in this race have been numerous and aggressive.

The TPM Poll Average for the Senate race shows Buck leading Bennet 47.9%-43.7%.

In the gubernatorial race, a Marist poll conducted from Sept. 26-28 found Hickenlooper at 48%, with Republican Dan Maes way behind at 19% and third-party candidate Tom Tancredo at 29%. A SurveyUSA poll conducted from Sept. 28-30 found Hickenlooper at 46%, Maes at 15% and Tancredo at 34%. Tancredo, who entered the race and switched parties after Maes refused to drop out in July, has been polling better than Maes for weeks. Despite terrible fundraising and polls, Maes insists he’s staying in.

The TPM Poll Average for the gubernatorial race shows Hickenlooper leading Tancredo and Maes 46.7%-33.4%-15.8%.
