Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R-MN), a potential presidential candidate, is actively tying his own brand to today’s big rally in Minneapolis with Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) and Sarah Palin, an event at which Pawlenty himself will also be appearing.
In an e-mail to his Freedom First PAC’s supporter list, Pawlenty raises money for Bachmann and promotes the rally: “Today, thousands of you will join me to welcome Governor Sarah Palin to Minneapolis for a rally to salute Congresswoman Michele Bachmann for her leadership. Even if you can’t be at today’s rally in person, I urge you to be support Michele’s fight against Washington liberals. Send her your message of support today and contribute $10, $25 or $100 today to ensure that she will continue to fight the liberal agenda in Washington.”
And as Salon notes, Pawlenty has gone the extra mile by appropriating Bachmann’s own brand. The URL BachmannRally.com was purchased not by Team Bachmann, but by Pawlenty’s PAC: “Which, if you type it in or click on it, takes you to a page where you can watch a livestream of the event at 2 p.m. Central on Wednesday — but only if you give Pawlenty’s team your name and e-mail address.”
