Stephen Colbert on Wednesday insisted that, as an objective broadcast journalist, he won’t be giving his sister any free air time during her run for Congress in South Carolina.
“It doesn’t matter that my sister is intelligent, hardworking, compassionate and dedicated to the people of South Carolina. I will not be mentioning any of that on my show,” he said.
Colbert’s sister, Elizabeth Colbert Busch, announced in mid-January that she would run for Congress in South Carolina’s 1st District. Colbert Bush is running for the seat vacated by Tim Scott, who Gov. Nikki Haley appointed to fill Sen. Jim DeMint’s seat when he left for the Heritage Foundation.
