Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has made a — rather awkward — meme out of President Obama’s swipe at him during the White House correspondents dinner last weekend.
“Some folks still don’t think I spend enough time with Congress,” the president said. “‘Why don’t you get a drink with Mitch McConnell?’ they ask. Really? Why don’t you get a drink with Mitch McConnell?”
McConnell responded Monday by tweeting out a photo of himself at a bar with a beer, and a glass of wine set before an empty chair facing him. His campaign followed up with an email asking supporters to join the fun with the hashtag #Obamadrink.
“Everyone that submits an ObamaDrink photo will be automatically entered to win a drink of your choice with Mitch!” read a post on the McConnell’s campaign Facebook account.
McConnell’s campaign posted the results Thursday on obamadrink.tumblr.com. There were more than 20 photos — of a person drinking a beer beside a glass of red wine and an empty chair.
