In an example of the Democrats’ eagerness to let the Republicans keep blocking the financial reform bill for the time being, President Obama last night used their second block as town hall fodder.

Speaking to voters in Iowa, he said it’s “not right” that Republicans voted to block the bill from coming to the floor for debate.

“For the second time in 24 hours, Senate Republicans unanimously blocked efforts to debate the bill. I’m not even asking them to vote for the bill. I just want to let them debate it,” he said, according to ABC News.

Republicans, he said, “won’t even let it get on the floor to be debated. It’s one thing to oppose reform, but to oppose just talking about reform in front of the American people — to have legitimate debate — that’s not right.”

Democrats have been happy to let the Republicans block debate, arming themselves with political ammunition going into the midterm elections.
