Colorado Republican gubernatorial nominee Dan Maes has tapped Tambor Williams, currently an attorney in the state’s Office of Judicial Performance, as his running mate. Williams will run for lieutenant governor.

Williams previously served as a state legislature and director of the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies. According The Denver Post:

Maes touted Williams’ legislative and state administrative history and cast her as a person who supports Tea Party values.

“She brings the political experience to the table that I lack,” Maes said.

Maes said he has come to know Williams and her husband over the past 16 months as they helped with his campaign in Weld County.

The TPM Poll Average for the race shows Democratic Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper (44.8%) leading big in a three-way race with Maes (26.3%) and Tom Tancredo (22%), who is running as a third-party candidate after calling for Maes to drop out of the race.
