The state of Alaska has certified Sen. Lisa Murkowski as the winner of the 2010 Senate race, following an almost two-month long court challenge by her opponent, Republican Joe Miller.

Murkowski won a write-in campaign to keep her senate seat, after Miller beat her in the Republican primary. She won by more than 10,000 votes, over 2,000 of which went uncontested by the Miller campaign.

Miller had argued that it was against state law for the Alaska Division of Elections to count misspelled ballots as votes for Murkowski. The Alaska Supreme Court ruled against him last week, and on Monday a federal district judge upheld the ruling and lifted his block on Murkowski’s certification.

Miller will hold a press conference on Friday to “address his plans moving forward, including whether he will pursue a federal appeal or state election contest,” according to a press release.
