A week after announcing they would be representing South Carolina Democrat Alvin Greene in his campaign for Senate, the L.A.-based consulting firm the Warren Group announced they were splitting with Greene.

But now, less than a week after that announcement, the Warren Group says they’re back on the Greene campaign, and “according to Alvin, we never left.”

The Warren Group released a statement on July 29 saying that “while we were very effective in advising Mr. Greene, we are located in Los Angeles and understand Mr. Greene’s hiring new representation located in nearby Greeneville, South Carolina.”

They had been representing Greene for free.

Now, Corey Hutchins of the Free-Times reports that Donna Warren, who started the group, says that they’re back on the campaign: “According to Alvin, we never left. He wants us to stay on as advisers and do the voter registration. We agreed that we’d do that.”

Warren also added that there was no press release of the news, since following last week’s announcement this would make “it look kind of like a circus, you know?”

“At this point, the circus is going to be over and the hard work is going to have to begin,” she told the Free-Times. “We’re still on the campaign, but again, the campaign is a little bizarre.”

Said Greene of the back-and-forth: “They’ve been advising and they’re still advising, that’s all.”

The Warren Group will now be handling the campaign strategy, while the Greenville-based attorney Suzanne Coe, who Greene brought on last week, will be handling the campaign’s day-to-day management.
