Joe Miller has a new advisor to help him with his war on spelling in the Alaska Senate write-in count — and it’s Floyd Brown, the infamous conservative strategist behind the “Willie Horton” TV ad in the 1988 presidential campaign, the co-founder of Citizens United and the birther-friendly blogger.

Miller beat Sen. Lisa Murkowski in the Republican primary, but now appears to trail her write-in campaign in the general election. Write-in ballots are currently being examined to see how many are for Murkowski.

Brown has referred to himself as a “volunteer strategist” for the Miller campaign, but since joining Miller in Juneau on Tuesday, he’s already claimed that the campaign has received “serious allegations of fraud, voter intimidation and voter bullying” since election day.

So who is he?

Brown is most well-known for masterminding the infamous “Willie Horton” ad that put a crimp in Michael Dukakis’ 1988 presidential run against George H.W. Bush. Dukakis supported a weekend furlough plan for prisoners, and Horton, a convicted felon, used his furlough to commit another rape. The ad showed a picture of Horton, who is black, and said Dukakis “allowed first degree murderers to have weekend passes from prison.” Here’s the ad:

Also on Brown’s resume is a 1-900 hotline he created in 1992 so that callers could pay to hear conversation snippets between Bill Clinton and Gennifer Flowers. Even Bush, who was President at the time, called the hotline “the kind of sleaze that diminishes the political process.”

Then there’s Citizens United, which Brown helped found, which was the force behind Hillary: The Movie, an extremely negative film about then-candidate Clinton. The film was eventually the subject of a Supreme Court ruling that allowed corporations and unions to funnel money into political campaigns.

These days Brown operates the site http://www.impeachobamacampaign.com/, a supposed effort to hold the President accountable for his “crimes against liberty.” He also blogs about Obama’s birth certificate:

Without proof of birth, Obama may not be eligible to be president. The US Constitution, which is still the law of the land, has very specific qualifications for eligibility to run. I believe that the reason for these special qualifications is because our Founders wanted to make sure any person that could have dual allegiances would never be elected. This simple idea has protected America until this election.

Also among Miller’s star-studded staffers is Thomas Van Flein, the Anchorage attorney who has been a longtime representative of Sarah Palin.
