Gov. Joe Manchin literally takes aim and fires upon Democrats’ climate legislation in a new television ad, promising voters if they elect him to the U.S. Senate next month he’ll “take dead aim at the cap-and-trade bill, because it’s bad for West Virginia.”

In a remarkable ad for a Democrat, Manchin is seen wearing sportsman-style clothes and touting his NRA endorsement as he loads a rifle.

“I’ll take on Washington and this administration to get the federal government off of our backs and out of our pockets,” Machin says in the ad.

He adds, “I’ll repeal the bad parts of Obamacare,” using the Republican-preferred moniker for the health care reform law passed this year.

Then Manchin fires his rife on the cap-and-trade legislation. It’s not a shock that a Democrat in a coal state wouldn’t love the bill, but filling it with lead is bound to get Manchin some attention.
