Turns out that American Crossroads, the group backed by Karl Rove and Ed Gillespie, among others, to raise money for Republican candidates, is pulling in the dough after all: The group says it raised $8.5 million in June, according to Politico.
American Crossroads, which has vowed to raise $52 million this cycle, drew snickers after it was reported that it raised only $200 in May. But the latest figures are nothing to laugh at.
American Crossroads president Steven Law told Politico that the total was combined between the group and a newer offshoot called American Crossroads GPS.
“For us it’s a down payment on what we expect to do in the months ahead, and we’re going to continue to be just as aggressive in July,” Law said.
