Despite widespread criticism, the House passed the GOP budget plan on largely partisan lines before leaving for a two-week recess Friday, prompting an angry outcry from Democrats on the Budget Committee who are starting to get more creative in their taunts.

After the budget vote, Rep. John Yarmuth (D-KY) labeled it the “Harry Potter Budget Plan.”

“Don’t worry about actual economic measurements,” he said. “Just wave a magic wand and it all adds up.”

“That’s not budget reality,” he said. “The biggest insult is that [the GOP] budget is totally faith-based.”

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), the architect of the GOP plan, is catching plenty of heat for his budget and its oh-so rosy forecasts for job creation, the housing market and and the economy in general, if only it could get through the Senate and become the law of the land.

Ryan based his predictions and calculations for balancing the nation’s books on analysis from the conservative Heritage Foundation, but such dramatic economic bounceback was widely panned by other more mainstream experts.
