Exxon Mobil chief executive Rex Tillerson has taken three trips to the White House, including two for private meetings with top Obama aides, according to visitor logs.
In February, Tillerson, who in January had thrown cold water on Obama’s alternative energy plan, was one of three visitors meeting with Carol Browner, head of the Office of Energy and Climate Change Policy. And in May, he was one of two visitors who huddled with top economic aide Larry Summers.
Other corporate highlights from the list: Morgan Stanley chief John Mack met personally with Rahm Emanuel on the day in March when executives of the big banks were summoned to the White House for a chat with President Obama.
GE’s Jeff Immelt visited five times, including private meetings with economic aide Austan Goolsbee and Office of Management and Budget Director Peter Orszag.
Unsurprisingly, labor leaders have also been frequent visitors to the White House. Rich Trumka, now head of the AFL-CIO, had over five visits, and SEIU’s Andy Stern over 20.
