Former President Bill Clinton is heading to the Keystone State to help boost Senate hopeful Rep. Joe Sestak. Sestak (D-PA) announced today that the former president will attend a rally in Scranton Tuesday.

The Morning Call had the scoop today:

Clinton brought up the idea for next week’s event, the Sestak campaign said, but Sestak suggested the location. Clinton had said he’d be coming through Pennsylvania.

That same day, Clinton is headlining a fundraiser for Bethlehem Mayor John Callahan, who is running against Republican Rep. Charlie Dent and independent Jake Towne to represent the Lehigh Valley on Capitol Hill.

It’s not a big surprise Sestak would bring Clinton in as he attempts to win a flagship Senate race against Republican former Rep. Pat Toomey. The former president remains popular in Pennsylvania.

Clinton and Sestak go way back, and Sestak was one of Hillary Clinton’s staunchest supporters during the 2008 primary. Clinton was also the White House’s liaison last year when they attempted to convince Sestak to get out of the primary against Sen. Arlen Specter.

The TPM Poll Average of this race has Toomey 43.9% to Sestak 42.0%
