Andrea Mitchell didn’t mince words when alluding to Rush Limbaugh in a recent magazine interview. He’s a “bully with a megaphone,” the NBC reporter and MSNBC host told More magazine in a wide-ranging interview on politics and women’s rights.

Mitchell has scored some high-profile interviews on the topic of reproductive politics, including Susan G. Komen Foundation CEO Nancy Brinker after the group decided to pull its Planned Parenthood Funding, GOP financier Foster Friess and Georgetown University law student Sandra Fluke.

Mitchell interviewed Fluke moments after President Obama called her to say her parents should be proud of her for appearing before a House hearing on contraception. Limbaugh vilified Fluke after her testimony, calling her a “slut” and a “prostitute,” drawing mass condemnation and losing advertisers.

“The vulnerability of this woman who had unwillingly, just by standing up, become part of a national debate where her reputation was being sullied by a bully with a megaphone–that just really touched me,” Mitchell told the magazine.

On the Foster Friess interview, Mitchell said it was clear that when he said Bayer aspirin worked fine as birth control in his day, Friess was “on a different planet from where most women — and most men — are in America today.”
