That didn’t take long.

The Warren Group, a Los Angeles-based consulting group that was working for Democratic nominee Alvin Greene’s campaign for senator of South Carolina, announced yesterday that they are leaving the campaign, after less than a week.

Donna Warren, who started the group, cited the company’s location in Los Angeles as the reason for its departure.

As TPM reported last week, Warren, a retired Defense Department auditor and former congressional candidate, offered her services to Greene after seeing some of the attacks on his candidacy. They announced their partnership a week ago today.

Warren even agreed to represent Greene for free. “That’s how much we believe in him,” she said at the time.

Apparently, that’s not enough.

In a statement released to the Free-Times, the group announced that they are leaving the campaign, because “while we were very effective in advising Mr. Greene, we are located in Los Angeles and understand Mr. Greene’s hiring new representation located in nearby Greeneville, South Carolina.”

“The campaign was unable to provide necessary funding to set up a campaign office in Manning and so we were unable to serve as Mr. Greene’s campaign managers,” said Warren.

According to Warren, Green has brought on Greenville attorney Suzanne Coe to manage the campaign.

The end of her statement notes: “The Warren Group welcomes inquiries from political aspirants.”

Suzanne Coe could not be reached for comment.

Here’s the full statement:

The Warren Group, the official campaign advisors to the Alvin Greene for Senate Campaign, announced on July 28, 2010 they are leaving the campaign.

Coming from obscurity, Alvin Greene, the winner of the South Carolina Democratic Primary for Senate, brought a new kind of politics to the American scene.

“We were elated by Mr. Greene’s success” said Principal Donna Warren “because in the Greene campaign message for jobs and education, we saw hope for the American people”.

The Warren Group is headquartered in Los Angeles.

“While we were very effective in advising Mr. Greene, we are located in Los Angeles and understand Mr. Greene’s hiring new representation located in nearby Greeneville, South Carolina”, said Ms. Warren. “The campaign was unable to provide necessary funding to set up a campaign office in Manning and so we were unable to serve as Mr. Greene’s campaign managers.”

On July 25th, Mr. Greene hired Suzanne Coe, a local Greenville, SC attorney as his campaign manager.

“We appreciate our time with the campaign”, said Donna Warren, “and wish Mr. Greene and his new management team success”.
