Chris Christie: Trump Made Me Order Meatloaf At The White House (AUDIO)

From The Reporter’s Notebook

President Donald Trump said Thursday that former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn “wasn’t wrong” for taking the actions that led to his resignation and blamed the media for reporting on it. He repeatedly denied any connection to Russia and said he was not aware of any staff on his campaign who spoke to Russian officials before the election, TPM’s Esme Cribb reported. “What he did wasn’t wrong, what he did in terms of the information he saw,” Trump told reporters during a White House press conference, responding to a question on Flynn’s resignation. “What was wrong was the way that other people, including yourselves in this room, were given that information.”

Agree or Disagree?

Josh Marshall: “There are credible reports of Richard Nixon being in this sort of state in the final weeks of his presidency. But Nixon, to give him his due, was at the center of the greatest political scandal in American history, bearing down on him for months and pushing him toward the greatest political disgrace and humiliation in his nation’s political history. He was overseeing the Vietnam War, witnessing various domestic civil disturbances, grappling with foreign policy blowups which neared superpower confrontations. There was a lot going on. Trump has been President for less than four weeks. Aside from domestic, media driven and other crises of his own making, virtually nothing has happened.”

Say What?!

“The leaks are absolutely real. The news is fake, because so much of the news is fake.”

– President Donald Trump insisted Thursday that the leaks coming from his administration are real but the reporting based on that information is “fake.”

BUZZING: Today in the Hive

From a TPM Prime member: “We can’t just label them as “not sane” and look I agree that this softcore support are complete losers who lack basic decency and I have cut my family off from having them be our friends/neighbors b/c of this shit, so I get it. BUT, when we label them as if they are insane or believe (and act or rely on that belief) that they will reflexively be repulsed and reject Trump, I think we lose sight of the fact that while in many other aspects of their life they appear perfectly rational and don’t pay that much attention to this, their guy won, they think he is slimy but hey, all politicians are slimy, and he is their guy, so he gets a free pass on all this stuff. not sure if that made sense”
