Elizabeth Warren joined Hillary Clinton on the stump for a spirited rally in Cincinnati on Monday, fueling VP rumors. Though other names, including Sen. Tim Kaine and HUD Secretary Julian Castro, have been floated as potential picks, Warren is the first to appear at one of her campaign events. As reported by TPM’s Allegra Kirkland, the two have also met in private at Clinton’s DC home and Warren has vowed to “fight her heart out” to ensure a Clinton victory in November.

BUZZING: Today in the Hive

From a TPM Prime member: “I’ve never been a fan of private prisons on the grounds of moral agency. The State has chosen to lock these people away: in so doing the State assumes a moral obligation for the prisoners’ well-being. I’ve always been suspicious of shareholder businesses that profit from the misery of others, but profiting by creating misery for others raises that to a much higher level. The question, of course, is where do we go from here. I’m not certain, myself. CCA and GEO and other private prison operators have a strong lobbying presence: I suspect that simply banning private prisons is not in the cards. Instead, we should focus on effective accreditation practices for all prisons.”

Related: The private prison industry actually encompasses the entire criminal justice system.
