TPM Reader SE just flagged this piece from Minnesota Public Radio surveying the Minnesota congressional delegation in the wake of the Newtown, CT massacre. MPR notes that last year Michele Bachmann said that her favorite firearm was the AR-15, the weapon used last week by Adam Lanza. And they link to the video of her interview, which happens to be a TPM video. (Bachmann declined the station’s request for comment.)
Now, at the risk of stating the obvious, many people own one of these guys and Bachmann had no way to predict the future last December when she did this interview. She was in Iowa campaigning for the Iowa caucuses. But it’s worth noting that even the talk radio interviewer seemed not taken aback but at least a touch surprised by Bachmann’s comment. “The AR-15 is … yeah, well that’s a … that’s a combat weapon. It can be made automatic. But it is a semi-automatic, .222, I think, isn’t it …”
He then goes on to ask whether she’s using a legal or modified magazine.
