Obama: Mitt Fact-Checked By Own Campaign!

President Barack Obama

During his appearance just now in the DC suburbs of northern Virginia, President Obama referred to that part of Wednesday’s debate when Mitt Romney claimed his own health care reform plan would cover people with pre-existing conditions:

But after he said that, then he backtracked and said, no, wait, at least I’ll make sure to cover folks with pre-existing conditions. And then I explained, well, actually, your plan doesn’t do that. And then his campaign had to come out and say, actually, that’s not true, our plan wouldn’t do that. So Governor Romney was fact-checked by his own campaign. That’s rough. That’s rough.

TPM self-promo here, but it was our Evan McMorris-Santoro who pressed the Romney camp on this point in the spin room after the debate and got the confirmation that Romney’s plan would not in fact cover pre-existing conditions.
