But Why?

TPM Reader MH can’t make sense of it:

I mostly agree with WB, but I’m not convinced that it matters at all.
The question I ask myself is “who are the voters this will affect?” That is, if Romney refuses to clearly repudiate the right wing nutjobs, and the Obama campaign repeatedly and loudly calls him out on it, who are the voters that will switch their allegiance from the Republican to the Democrat?

I just don’t see this causing anybody who was predisposed to a Romney vote to switch - if you’re just an old fashioned small government ‘paleoconservative’ and you find the tea partiers to be an embarrassment, the fact that Romney panders to them is not something you will likely find surprising, and it’s not something that’s going to bother you a great deal …
