TPM Energy and Transportation Reporter
Location: New York City
Description: TPM is hiring an Energy and Transportation reporter to write for our technology vertical, TPMIdealab. Reporting will focus on the core technologies driving innovation, growth and cutting edge developments in the energy and transportation sectors. Articles will be a mix of breaking news, features, interviews and the shorter, iterative style of posts TPM is best known for. The reporter in this position will create innovative new content and spearhead TPM’s strategic entry into this space in a pivotal year of growth for the company. This is an early career position designed for applicants with between 1 and 3 years of relevant reporting experience who are hungry, thorough and ready to make TPM a leader in this space.
REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must have relevant experience and be ready to work at the fast-paced metabolism of a new media news organization. A deep knowledge of energy and transportation policy, science and technology, a solid grasp of contemporary politics and a real familiarity with TPM are each a must. A good nose for news is essential. We are looking for someone eager, entrepreneurial and exceptional who has solid experience in digital media, a keen understanding of the sector and is willing to dive into several projects at once.
Bachelor’s degree; 1 - 3 years relevant reporting experience; Attention to detail, unrivaled time management skills; Obsession with news, investigative journalism, web-native news gathering, a love for breaking stories and this industry.
