Sean Hannity loves a damning tape of Barack Obama. So when he got his hands on a publicly available speech that the president gave in front of a large audience in 2007, he could hardly contain his excitement.

Dedicating most of his Tuesday show to the “bombshell” tape, Hannity breathlessly listed the reasons he was so eager to present it to his audience.

He said it was “Barack Obama like you have never heard him before,” and that the president went through a litany of “racially charged rhetoric” in “a speech that was never seen before”.

“Now, this is what the so-called unbiased journalists have been trying to hide for years,” Hannity said. In order to drive his point home, he welcomed Tucker Carlson on set. Carlson, however, told Hannity that “this was covered at the time. There were reporters in the room.”

Further muddying the waters, Carlson added, confusingly, “People will say this has already been reported. Actually, it hasn’t been reported. I know because I reported it the fist time.”

After playing segments of the tape, where Obama gave a “shout out” to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and criticized the federal response to Hurricane Katrina, Carlson and Hannity got animated.

With Carlson accusing the president of “whipping up racial hatred and fear,” Hannity decided the best way to get his audience engaged was with an impression of what he described as “Al Gore preacher mode.” The result had Hannity adding a cartoonish drawl and baritone to his voice for a few moments.

“Republicans have the wrooong agenda for African Americans,” Hannity said in his mocking tone.

“Exactly,” Carlson replied.
